Casa Milan’s red and black museum, Mondo Milan, hosted a temporary exhibition, “The Trophy factory”, on the genesis of the trophies produced for the prestigious FIFA and UEFA sports organizations. The exhibit illustrates the processes through which these awards are produced, from the design phase that starts with a pencil sketch to the creation of the sculpture from the clay model, passing through the plaster mould and then the wax mode.
Blossom was asked to design the exhibit catalogue with the same artisanal excellency as the one of the elements hosted in the exhibition.
“The Trophy Factory” exhibition catalogue looks like an ingot: prestigious, precious and exclusive, just like the World Cup, whose production process story is told in the book.
The creative concept behind this catalogue focused on giving gold the predominance it deserved. Gold is the colour of the cups and the one of excellency. But it is also a raw material, the most precious of the ones used in sculptures. Gold needed to speak louder than the words and the photos: it needed to convey the preciousness of the artisanal production process, the immense value of the physical awards – and the luxury of the catalogue itself.
The design elements and especially the typography recall the art deco style, conveying a feeling of monumental art, enhancing the grandeur of the work behind the award realization.
Blossom developed the design and layout of the exhibit catalogue, overseeing all aspects from the general creative concept to cover design, layout template design, illustration design and photo treatment.SEE FULL PROJECT
