The pizzoccheri rebels
Stelvio is a new hipster food place in Queen street, in Toronto. With specialties and homemade delicacies from the Alps, it was opened by some northern Italian food lovers, to take some distance from the usual stereotypes linked to the Italian cuisine. Blossom created Stelvio’s identity: the new logo, the menu, staff’s clothing and restaurant’s branded materials, together with a fanzine and a cool website. The whole visual identity is developed in black and white and it uses the tattoo language that meets illustrations depicting the Italian Alps traditions. Weird characters such as Betta la Civetta or Simone il Procione tell stories from the pictures on the walls or from the place mats. This “hypster” approach was awarded with the first prize in the category Corporate Identity of the 2016 Mediastars awards.
